Lourdes Llanto’s journey to making a difference with Specsavers Audiology 

Lourdes Llanto has recently embarked on a new career with Specsavers Audiology in New Zealand. With a profound passion for helping people hear better, Lourdes brings dedication and a desire to make a positive impact in people’s lives.

Lourdes discovered audiology in an unconventional way, as it was not widely popular in her home country – the Philippines. The opportunity to explore the field arose when audiologists visited Lourdes’ class to discuss the course. Initially motivated by the chance to spend more time with friends who were also applying, Lourdes soon realised that this decision would be life changing.

“I didn’t know it then, but choosing audiology as a profession would turn out to be one of the best decisions of my life,” says Lourdes.

Lourdes began her audiology career in a private clinic in the Philippines, gaining valuable experience. Her passion for helping children with hearing loss led them to relocate to Vietnam, before making her way to New Zealand. When looking to move to Wellington in 2021, Lourdes discovered the exciting opportunities at Specsavers Audiology and decided to explore a partnership role.

“Specsavers offered a wealth of opportunities, both in terms of financial growth and personal development,” says Lourdes.

Before joining Specsavers as a partner, Lourdes already held a positive view of the company. She recognised Specsavers as a well-known brand for optical care and had heard positive feedback from friends who had joined the organisation.

Now as a Specsavers Audiology partner in Wellington’s largest mall, Lourdes is happy to have made the change to Specsavers and works alongside an experienced, driven, and organised team.

Taking on the role of a partner and running her own business excites Lourdes. She anticipates financial freedom, more opportunities for personal enjoyment, and the ability to provide a comfortable life for her aging parents back in the Philippines. She acknowledges that owning her own business will not always be smooth sailing however, she sees the potential and the opportunities to expand the business, open additional locations, and hire audiologists to support her growing vision.

Lourdes looks forward to raising hearing awareness, earning the trust of her customers, and establishing successful Specsavers Audiology locations in Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt. She also has grand plans for the future, but for now, is focused on providing quality hearing care to her customers.
